NZ-Made Collagen for Skin: Follow the Bottle From Local Manufacture to Formula

NZ-Made Collagen for Skin: Follow the Bottle From Local Manufacture to Formula

Puraz Collagen Infusion bottle representing NZ-made collagen for skin and local New Zealand manufacture

You pick up a bottle of Puraz Collagen Infusion and see 100% NZ made on the product. It sounds simple, but it can raise a very fair question: what exactly is New Zealand made here? Is it the collagen, the finished capsules, the ingredients, or the whole product?

In simple terms, NZ made is a country-of-origin statement connected to how a product is manufactured. It should not be stretched to mean that every ingredient necessarily began in New Zealand, that a dietary supplement is Medsafe approved, or that local manufacture by itself gives better skin results.

With Collagen Infusion, there is another part of the story we think matters. We manufacture in-house. We are not simply putting a Puraz label on a finished supplement made elsewhere for us. That lets us stay close to the product from development and ingredient sourcing through to encapsulation, bottling and testing.

Start with the bottle that reaches you

The bottle in your hand is the finished product: 90 capsules, with a labelled daily serve of three capsules. Collagen Infusion is currently presented as 100% NZ made, and that statement refers to the manufacture of the finished product.

Country-of-origin claims need to be accurate and not misleading. The New Zealand Commerce Commission also makes the useful point that there is no single mechanical test that works for every kind of product. What matters includes the nature of the product, where significant manufacturing happened and what a reasonable customer is likely to understand from the claim.

That is why we think the clearest way to understand an NZ-made collagen supplement is to keep following the bottle backwards rather than making the label carry more meaning than it should.

The label says NZ made. Here is what we actually control.

We chose to bring manufacturing in-house rather than relying entirely on a contract manufacturer. For us, that means direct involvement in product development, ingredient sourcing, dispensing, mixing, encapsulation, bottling, cleaning, storage, transport and product testing.

Those processes are controlled and documented under our MPI Registered Risk Management Programme. The practical value is that our team stays close to the work that turns ingredients into the finished Puraz product that leaves our manufacturing process.

You can read more about how we manufacture in-house at Puraz and our approach to collagen and wellness.

There is one distinction worth being precise about. Our manufacturing facility was designed using GMP-compliant layout and materials in case we apply for that international licence in the future. That is not the same as saying Puraz is currently GMP certified, and our MPI registration is not a Medsafe approval of Collagen Infusion.

One step further back: where did the ingredients begin?

Once you move behind the finished capsules, manufacture and ingredient origin become two different parts of the story. A product can be made in New Zealand while containing ingredients that have different places of origin.

For Collagen Infusion, the current three-capsule daily serve contains:

  • 1500 mg bovine collagen peptides
  • 225 mg Natural Antioxidant Fruit Complex
  • 80 mg phenolic antioxidants
  • 80 mg non-acidic vitamin C

Our current formula information describes the antioxidant complex as New Zealand fruit-derived. We do not use the NZ-made statement to imply that the bovine collagen itself comes from New Zealand cattle, or that every ingredient is New Zealand sourced.

That is not a drawback. It is simply a more accurate way to read the bottle. Ingredient provenance tells you where an ingredient began. Manufacturing origin tells you where the finished product was made. Both can matter, but they answer different questions.

If you want to compare the wider formats we offer, you can also explore our collagen range.

Now come forward again: what makes this a skin-focused collagen?

Origin may be what first catches your eye, but the formula still has to make sense for the reason you picked up the bottle. If skin is your main reason for shopping for collagen, we think Collagen Infusion is worth considering because the formula keeps the job clear.

Hydrolysed bovine collagen peptides are the collagen component at the centre of the formula. Vitamin C supports normal collagen formation, while the New Zealand fruit-derived phenolic complex adds antioxidant support alongside the collagen formula.

The format matters too. The labelled serve is three capsules once daily, with or without food. There is no powder to measure or drink to mix, which can make Collagen Infusion a straightforward option if you prefer capsules.

If capsules are your preferred way to take collagen, that combination gives you the collagen component and its supporting ingredients together in one defined daily serve.

That is the case we make for Collagen Infusion Capsules: a skin-focused collagen formula with a clearly labelled serve, supporting vitamin C and New Zealand fruit-derived antioxidants, in a simple no-mix format. Being made here is part of the product story, but it is not the active ingredient and it is not a promise of a particular skin result.

A quick safety note

People with known protein allergies should not take Collagen Infusion without medical advice. It should not be taken during pregnancy or lactation. Always read the label and use only as directed. If you take medication, consult your doctor before starting a dietary supplement.

What local manufacture adds after the formula already makes sense

Once you are happy with what is in the capsules and how you would take them, local manufacture can add another layer of confidence. For us, its value comes from being directly involved in the production work rather than treating manufacture as something distant from the brand.

That closeness supports traceability and documentation, and it gives us a clear line of responsibility when something in the production process needs attention. We know who is responsible for the finished product because it is our own team doing the manufacturing work.

We do not treat that as proof that every NZ-made supplement is better, safer or more effective. We value it because our in-house model gives real substance to the words NZ made on our own bottle.

Common questions about NZ-made collagen

What does NZ made mean on a collagen supplement?

NZ made is a country-of-origin claim about manufacture. The exact meaning depends on the product and how it was made, so it should be accurate, supportable and not misleading about where significant manufacturing occurred or where important components came from.

Does NZ made mean the collagen itself comes from New Zealand?

No. NZ made does not automatically mean the collagen ingredient itself came from New Zealand. Puraz Collagen Infusion uses bovine collagen peptides, but we do not claim that the bovine collagen comes from New Zealand cattle.

Is Puraz Collagen Infusion made in New Zealand?

Yes. Puraz Collagen Infusion is currently presented as 100% NZ made. The finished capsule product is manufactured in New Zealand by Puraz.

Does Puraz make its collagen in-house?

We manufacture Collagen Infusion in-house, including ingredient sourcing, dispensing, mixing, encapsulation, bottling and product testing. That does not mean we claim the bovine collagen ingredient itself is produced from New Zealand cattle.

Is NZ-made collagen better for skin?

Not simply because it is NZ made. Manufacturing origin is not a skin-active ingredient. When skin is your main goal, look at the collagen source, labelled serve, supporting ingredients, format and whether the product suits how you want to take it.

Are NZ-made collagen supplements approved by Medsafe?

No. Medsafe states that dietary supplements in New Zealand do not go through a pre-approval process. A product being made in New Zealand should not be treated as meaning it is Medsafe approved.

What is in Puraz Collagen Infusion?

Per three-capsule daily serve, Puraz Collagen Infusion contains 1500 mg bovine collagen peptides, 225 mg Natural Antioxidant Fruit Complex, 80 mg phenolic antioxidants and 80 mg non-acidic vitamin C. Take three capsules once daily, with or without food.

Back to the bottle

When you come back to the front of the bottle, 100% NZ made has a clearer place in the story. It can matter if local manufacture matters to you and you want to know that the company behind the product can explain what it actually does.

But Collagen Infusion still has to make sense on its own merits. For skin, that means looking at the hydrolysed bovine collagen peptides, the labelled three-capsule serve, vitamin C, New Zealand fruit-derived antioxidant support and whether a no-mix capsule format suits your day.

If that sounds like the kind of collagen support you are looking for, explore our skin, hair and nails range and choose the option that fits you best.
